Del Taco Set To Open On Hwy 5 In Douglasville​

Del Taco joins Burlington, Bealls and HomeGoods in a renovated Arbor Square.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – Construction is complete, there's a hiring sign in the window and a Del Taco spokesperson said the restaurant on Highway 5 in Douglasville is set to open.

According to Josh Levitt, a Del Taco spokesperson, said the restaurant should be open in mid-October.

Del Taco, the California-based second leading Mexican fast food chain in the country, is making a major push into the Atlanta area and is located at Arbor Square on Hwy. 5. The restaurant joins other national businesses that are revitalizing Arbor Square in 2018, including HomeGoods, Burlington and Bealls Outlet.

Arbor Square is one of Douglasville's oldest shopping centers. Situated at one of the city's busiest intersections, at Hwy 5 and Douglas Blvd., originally built in 1977.

"We've had ties to Douglasville for four decades and wanted this renovation to be what this site at Main & Main and the people of the community deserve," said J.R. Connolly, CEO of Connolly, owner of the property, when the construction began. "We've been planning the redevelopment of Arbor Square for a quite a while; and we waited for the perfect combination of high quality anchors before kicking our renovation into high gear."

Arbor Square is adjacent to Arbor Place Mall, a regional destination that attracts shoppers from eight surrounding counties in Georgia. The redevelopment of Arbor Square will bring quality jobs and opportunities for the citizens of Douglasville and Douglas County.

"A growing number of young professionals and large companies are choosing Douglasville, creating demand for new housing and retail," said Chris Pumphrey, executive director of Douglasville County Economic Development Authority. "The reinvestment by Connolly is the perfect response to this demand and promises to be a catalyst for future investment."

In the past year, Del Taco has been growing, opening new restaurants in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Georgia, Oklahoma and Michigan. Founded in 1964, it now has more than 560 locations across 14 states, serving Mexican and American favorites like burritos, tacos, burgers and fries.
