- Willie Spence, an "American Idol" finalist from Douglas County, died in a car crash in Marion County, Tennessee on Tuesday. Police say the 23-year-old's Jeep ran into the back of a trailer sitting on the shoulder. The driver of the other car was not injured. (Douglasville Patch)
- The Douglasville Tree Board was awarded the Georgia Tree Council's 2022 Outstanding Community Grand Award for outstanding achievement. The award honored the Douglas County High School Tree Canopy Restoration Project in 2020. Volunteers helped plant over 60 trees of eight different varieties. (Press Release Desk)
- The Fall Community Yard Sale is happening this Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. 80 sellers will be featured at the yard sale and the Original Hot Dog Factory will serve food while Sugar Spice & Everything Ice offers snacks. - Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library card! The Douglas County branches of the West Georgia Regional Library System have plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy. Head over to the Lithia Springs Public Library for the Halloween Spooktacular on Oct. 24, or enjoy a Potion Bottle DIY there on Oct. 25. - The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville is hosting a chili cook-off on Oct. 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Participants include KC Freedom House, The Vine, and Bundy Cobb.
