  1. The City of Douglasville has earned the "Healthiest Employer Award" for the fourth time. The City’s Wellness Program, ‘D-Fit’, began in 2016 as a method to reduce costs associated with health insurance coverage for city employees. The Wellness Committee introduced monthly HIIT classes, weekly yoga, walking step challenges, and unlimited complimentary gym access. (Press Release Desk)
  2. Samantha Rosado and Gil Guthrie, both city employees, recently graduated from the Leadership Douglas Class of 2022. Rosado has been with the city for eight years and Guthrie is a sergeant in the Detective Division of the Police Department. During the ceremony, local high school students who completed the program received scholarships for college. (Press Release Desk )
  3. Douglas County School Systems has implemented Work-Based Learning (WBL), which emphasizes employability and technical skills for later in life. Juniors and seniors in the district on track for graduation, who are a minimum of 16 years of age, and meet the program requirements, may participate. Students begin paid, on-the-job training or a non-paid internship through a structured workplace learning program. (Douglas County School District)
  4. The Douglas County Probate Office will be open for one more Saturday before the end of the year. On Dec. 3, you can bring in licenses, applications, and requests to the Probate Office as you normally do during weekdays. A variety of probate services are also available by mail.   5. The City of Douglasville will be hosting a movie night on Friday, Sep. 16 as part of its Screen on the Green At Hunter Park series. This showing will feature Soul, a Disney Pixar film. The movie will begin at dusk, but attendees may arrive as early as 7:00 p.m. There will be games and food before the film begins. (City of Douglasville via Facebook)
