Driver Killed When Tree Falls On Truck At I-20 W

One person is dead and a portion of I-20 westbound between Lee Road and Fairburn Road in Douglas County was blocked.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA – One person is dead and a portion of I-20 westbound between Lee Road and Fairburn Road in Douglas County was blocked after a tree fell on a vehicle.

One person has been killed after a tree fell from the right shoulder and hit the truck, according to Rick Martin, Douglas County director of Communications and Community Relations.

Martin said there was only one person in the vehicle and was killed on impact. Several rescue agencies were dispatched to the scene at 10:33 a.m., including HERO units. Traffic was backed up for several exits and is now moving again.

Reports are that one lane open for westbound traffic. There is no estimated time for the roadway to be completely reopened.
