Georgia Weather Forecast: Week Starts With Afternoon Storms

Take the umbrella with you all week, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are expected to kick off the week Sunday and Monday.

Any severe storms will be able to produce damaging wind gusts and large hail, along with the chance for heavy showers and lightning strikes, according to a weather service statement.

The chance for severe weather is still possible for the rest of the week, and increases Friday and Saturday.

High temperatures will stay in the low 90s all week.

Sunday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.

Thursday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 92.

Saturday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 92.
