Heroes Day, Touch A Truck To Be Highlight Of September Saturdays

Admission to the festival is free with free parking, free carnival rides and free shuttle services.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA – Heroes Day and Touch a Truck Experience will kick off the second leg of the 16th annual September Saturdays Festival to be held on Saturday, Sept. 29, on the grounds of the Douglas County Courthouse located at 8700 Hospital Drive, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission to the festival is free with free parking, free carnival rides and free shuttle services from the Transportation Center parking lot. The free features include inflatable games, a train ride, a carnival ride and a rock climbing wall. The Food Court will be plentiful featuring pizza, funnel cakes, BBQ, Italian ice and more.

“The largest annual community festival in Douglas County has over 100 vendors and exhibitors registered, and some of the biggest trucks you’ll ever see from the Douglas County Fire Department, Douglasville Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Department of Transportation Bucket Truck,” Rick Martin, director of Communications and Community Relations said.

The Courthouse front steps will serve as the festival stage, with school chorus groups, a school marching band, and a Douglas County Sheriff’s office K9 Unit demonstration. At 10:50 a.m. the Chapel Hill JROTC will kick off the day with the presentation of colors and the National Anthem to be sung by the Dorsett Shoals Chorus. The Touch-a-Truck experience not only includes vehicles from our various public safety agencies, but large equipment as well from the Douglasville-Douglas County Water and Sewer Authority, Connect Douglas, formerly known as Rideshare, Douglas County Emergency Management Agency, Bin There Dump That – a rental dumpster removal company.

The purpose for this day is to recognize our everyday heroes and members of our public safety departments who keep us safe every day.
