Lady Tiger Sprinters Stand Out at Roswell Relays
The girls finish 11th overall, while the Douglas County boys place 16th.

Viveca Jones sprinted to a 12.57-second 100 meters to finish second Saturday at the Roswell Relays at and help to an 11th-place finish among 21 teams.
The Douglas County boys, meanwhile, struggled to finish 16th out of 19 teams.

The Lady Tigers’ best performances came in the sprints. In addition to Jones, Ashley Cunningham finished under 13 seconds at 12.99 to place eighth in the 100 meters, and the team of Carlia Jackson, Makyla Abernathy, Ebony Moore and Shayla Bowen finished third in the 4x100-meter relay at 50.02 seconds.
For the Douglas County boys, most of the points came from Ben Thrash, who was third in the pole vault at 11 feet, 6 inches. Also scoring was the relay team of Willis Leonard, Xavier Packer, Zacharias Packer and Richard Johns, who finished seventh in the 4x400-meter relay and eighth in the 1,600-meter sprint medley.

Roswell won the girls’ and boys’ titles at the relays.
The relays, co-sponsored by the Roswell Rotary Club and Roswell High School, date back to the 1950s. The full results are available here.
