Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:
- After 27 year old Mariam Abdulrab was kidnapped and killed last August in Atlanta, an organization, Mariam Forever, is proposing a new legislation, Mariam's Law, to keep the state and the Atlanta area safe from sex offenders. The law's mission is to stop preventable crimes that offenders commit. One of the ways they are trying to keep the community safe is by issuing identification cards with their status as a sex offender printed on them. The organization is actively encouraging state officials to consider this law and is not only fighting to seek justice for Mariam, but to also help and protect community members from the people who did this to her.
