  1. Mayor Robinson spoke at J.W. Stewart Middle School to 8th graders preparing to attend high school next year. The mayor said, "You've made the City of Douglasville proud with all your achievements and accomplished so much in your time at Stewart Middle School. I know we have a lot to look forward to from all of you." Principal Dr. Donita Cullen invited the mayor to speak to the students to inspire them for the back-to-school season. (Press Release Desk )
  2. The Douglasville Police Department is holding a town hall this Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 6:30 p.m. The Town Hall meeting will focus on gangs, drugs, and theft crimes.   3. Douglasville local Chris Pittman has received an academic scholarship to attend Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Pittman, who holds the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Winter League Basketball Trophy from 2020 plans to try out for the basketball team at his new university.   4. The Douglas County Cultural Arts Council is putting on a Multicultural Festival on Sep. 10. The festival seeks to celebrate the diverse cultures that call Douglas County home.   5. After a deadly accident on a major Douglas County road, a Fairburn police sergeant has died and two more are injured. Firefighters were called to Capps Ferry Rd. just south of Hwy. 166 for a four-vehicle crash around 8 a.m. An unmarked patrol car was going north when it hit a GMC Dually truck going south on its left side, causing it to strike an Audi SUV, before crossing into the southbound lane and striking a second GMC truck.
