- Douglasville Mayor Rochelle Robinson is participating in a "Fall Fit City Challenge" through the Move With The Mayorâ„¢ initiative. Robinson will be joining more than sixty other mayors aiming to reduce heart disease and stroke by encouraging residents to embrace movement. The challenge runs from Sep. 1 to Oct. 15. - The new Pop Up Arts Shop at the Cultural Arts Council Douglasville/Douglas County for September has selected local artist Lee Anne Messerschmidt to feature. Messerschmidt is a jewelry artist based in the Atlanta area who was a potter for many years. She graduated from Drake University with a BFA Degree in Interior Design and Art Education. - Douglasville's own Jamarion Wilcox is being considered by the Clemson Tigers for running back. Recruitment of running backs for the 2023 season is happing lowly and steadily with coaches being selective about their offers. Only five players have received offers so far, including Chris Johnson from Florida. Wilcox is being considered alongside John Randle Jr. of Kansas. (Sports Illustrated)
- For Labor Day, The Douglasville Masonic Lodge No. 289 is preparing 900 pounds of pork for the 58th Annual Rudolph Harper BBQ at Hunter Park. The barbecue and Sweetwater Shrive Club Labor Day Parade have both been long-running traditions in the city's history. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday with the barbecue and other activities to follow. (Douglas County Sentinel, Subscription)
- The Douglas County branches of the West Georgia Regional Library System have plenty of events for the whole family to enjoy. Head over to the Douglasville Branch for a Super Smash Bros. tournament on Sep. 8 or enjoy the Monthly movie there on Sep. 15.
