  1. Arthur Lee Cofield Jr., 31, currently in the Georgia Department of Corrections’ Special Management Unit, is accused of stealing over $11 million from a billionaire. Officials believe Cofield assumed movie mogul Sidney Kimmel's identity and arranged for the money from his Charles Schwab account to be wired to a company in Idaho – while in the maximum security prison. Cofield's first sentenced crime occurred when he was a teen and stole $2,600 from a bank in Douglasville. (Subscription: The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  2. The Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County presented Landen Prather with the National Juried Arts Show 2022 People's Choice Award.   5. Recreation Program Manager Shajra Thrasher, of the Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department, recently received the Ira Hutchinson Young Professional Award. Thrasher said, "To be acknowledged among so many great parks and rec professionals is not only humbling, but it motivates me to continue to grow as a person and as a professional."
