  1. Douglas County firefighters have finally "contained" a wood fire that broke out on Tuesday at a private property off of Highway 61 near High Point Road. Reports indicate that flames reached up to 60 feet high, and although the blaze was still technically burning by Wednesday afternoon, the smoke and heat were still an issue for local fire crews. According to Douglas County Fire Department Deputy Chief Miles Allen, the fire started due to an unauthorized burning of a pile of lumber. No one was hurt, according to officials, who indicated there is no immediate danger to the public. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. Several employees of the Douglas County District Attorney's Office participated in the blood drive at the courthouse this week. As June 14 was World Blood Donor Day, employees donated blood to support the dire need for blood in the U.S. According to Red Cross, every two seconds in the U.S. someone needs blood, and each donation can help up to three people.
