Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:

  1. Last week, we reported about the trial of South Carolina man who was accused of sexual crimes against a Douglasville girl dating back to 2015. On Friday, a local court found Abraham Hardy guilty of his charges. Hardy's sentencing date has not been set, but he is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison. (WSBTV)
  2. City Hall will remain closed through Friday, Jul. 1, 2022, due to unforeseen circumstances discovered during construction. City staff will continue to provide services to the public by phone or mail and by appointments made in advance. A department and staff list is available on the city’s website. (City of Douglasville)

  5. On Friday, Jun. 24, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced his 15 appointments to the newly-created Healthcare Workforce Commission. The commission was created to tackle the significant challenges facing the healthcare industry, specifically in hiring and retention of workers. One of the people appointed to the commission is Despina "Debi" Dalton, who serves as the Vice President of Medical Affairs for Wellstar Douglas Hospital in Douglasville. (Georgia Government)
