Severe Storm Threat Tuesday Afternoon

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

There's a 60 percent chance for showers and storms Tuesday afternoon.

"Any thunderstorms that develop will have the potential to produce strong gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall," according to a weather service statement.

The best chance for storms to develop will be between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The heat index (or "feels like" temperature) will also be a concern at 98 degrees.

The threat of afternoon thunderstorms will continue through Saturday, according to the weather service. But we can expect slightly cooler temperatures.
