Update: Power Restored After Outage Impacted Thousands in Douglas County

Power has been restored in the affected areas, GreyStone reported:
The outage has been identified as a piece of equipment in one of the substations. Georgia Power has been contacted for the repair their equipment. Thousands of GreyStone Power customers were without power during the noonhour Thursday due to a major outage.

The company’s power outage status map showed 19,374 without power as of 12:30 p.m., mostly south of Interstate 20. The cause of the outages was not immediately known.

We currently are experiencing a number of outages in the Douglas County service area. Crews have been dispatched to the following locations: Annewakee, Mason Creek, Chapel Hill and Central Church Road. As you can imagine, our phone lines are quite busy. You can report your outage online through our Storm Center or call 1-866-473-9786. I will post an update once I have more information.
The Douglasville Police Department said on Facebook that traffic lights were out in several places on Chapel Hill Road and Highway 5.
“Greystone is working to restore power as soon as possible,” the agency said.
