Wednesday Hurricane Michael Update From Douglas County Schools

The Douglas County School System has an update about how Hurricane Michael will affect the school system.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA – The Douglas County School System has been working closely with state and county agencies to monitor the path of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael.

"Because of Hurricane Michael’s potential to turn in an upward, northwestern direction, we have taken the precautionary measures of canceling all Thursday morning and afternoon field trips," reads a statement from the school system. "At this time, all schools will be open and operate on their regular schedules for students and staff on Oct. 11.

"If necessary, further updates concerning any changes to the school schedule will be provided this evening as we receive additional details about the weather system. Thank you for your support as we work together to keep our students, staff and our community safe," concludes the statement.
