- An investigation into Wellstar Douglas found the Douglas County hospital failed to provide "adequate medical screening or stabilizing treatment” last year. Douglasville teen Tyler Nettles did not receive treatment at the emergency department which posed an "immediate and serious threat" to his health. Nettles passed away in August 2021. (WSB Atlanta)
- The City of Douglasville's Parks and Recreation Department is hosting an International Day of the Girl workshop in October. The workshop will be held on Oct. 11 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Ike Owings Community Center at Hunter Park. The workshop event will include sessions and discussions on yoga, dance, volunteering, online exploitation, and more under the theme "Digital Generation: Our Generation." (Press Release Desk)
- Douglas County Senior Services is hosting a festival next week. The Health & Wellness Festival will be held on Sep. 23 at Deer Lick Park from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Attendees will be able to visit health vendors at the festival. (Press Release Desk )
- Douglas County's Trunk or Treat event is taking place at the courthouse on Oct. 29 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department's event will provide hotdogs, hamburgers, soda, and candy for all ages. The event is free to enter. (Press Release Desk )
- A Public Handgun Clinic is being held by the Douglasville Police Department on the first Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the department's Community Room. The clinic is to teach the basics about firearms, gun laws, and shooting techniques to interested citizens.
