Are You Adjusting to New Duluth Speed Limit?
Changes have been made on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Gwinnett.

Updated Sept. 19
Duluth is among the Gwinnett County cities adjusting to a new speed limit on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard (PIB).
The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently adopted a new speed zone ordinance, which affected the speed limit on PIB. The change affects Norcross, Duluth, Suwanee and Sugar Hill. Gwinnett County made the decision due to safety issues.
As a result, the speed limit on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard is now 45 miles per hour all the way from SR 141 to Nelson Brogdon Boulevard, in the Sugar Hill-Buford area. This affects a stretch in northern Duluth. PIB is a county-maintained road.
The City of Duluth has no say in setting speed limits on county or state maintained roads, and did not adopt an ordinance on the speed limit change, city officials noted.
The ordinance recently adopted by the City of Duluth was for its update on roads that we are able to run speed detection devices on, as noted by Alisa Williams, public information director. This has to be updated periodically and has nothing to do with the actual speed limits. That is decided by the county and state for county and state-maintained roads.
