Cardboard Lining Bottom of Vegetable Prep Sink Gets Duluth Restaurant a 'C'

A Duluth restaurant recently received a "74/C" rating in an inspection by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Hikari at 2550 Pleasant Hill Road Suite H was inspected on Sept. 18. Among the violations noted:

  • Violation of Code: [.05(1)(a) ] Cardboard being used to line bottom of vegetable preparation sink. Cardboard is not considered approved for food contact surfaces (not easily cleanable, durable, non-absorbent, etc.) Cardboard removed from vegetable preparation sink. Must ensure all cardboard is removed.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
  • Employee personal items (jackets, purse) being stored on top of dry food products (bags of rice) under sushi prep area. Items removed. Must ensure all employee personal items are properly stored.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.
