As a former educator in the Gwinnett County public school system, I have seen firsthand the difference investing in our schools can make for our teachers and our students. This is why I am supporting the General Obligation bond referendum on the ballot this fall. I hope you will too.

On November 6, we have the chance to make a significant investment in the future of our schools – without increasing taxes. By voting yes to this measure, which will be at the end of the ballot, you are voting yes for the sale of $350 million in bonds that will fund improvements to every one of Gwinnett County’s 140 public schools.
In Duluth and throughout our county, our schools continue to experience significant growth. A portion of these bonds will go towards renovations and expansions that will help our schools manage expanding enrollments. At the same time, technology is changing and, just like at home or work, upgrades are required to keep up with that progress. Bond funding will pay for that, as well as improvements to athletic facilities additional school buses and enhancements to school safety.

Investing in our schools will allow our county to continue putting students first. It will also allow Gwinnett to remain a school district that can attract top quality educators as well as families seeking a great public education.
When you vote on November 6, I hope you will join me in voting yes for our schools by voting yes for this important referendum.
