Duluth Dialysis Clinic Open House

Fresenius Medical Care Berkeley Lake hosting open house, tours of new facility Thursday, March 7.

Fresenius Medical Care North America invites the community to attend an open house for its new 20-station dialysis clinic in Duluth Thursday, March 7. The open house and tours are scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Fresenius Medical Care Berkeley Lake, 3870 Peachtree Industrial Blvd.

Nurses and staff will be available to discuss services offered by the clinic for patients with chronic kidney disease and dialysis treatment options that suit their health needs and lifestyle.

There will also be demonstrations of the latest dialysis technology and single-use dialyzers. Fresenius Medical Care uses blood-filtering dialyzers only once, unlike other facilities that may disinfect and reuse them.

The new facility offers traditional in-center daytime dialysis and access to a regional home dialysis program, according to a press release announcing the clinic’s opening. The clinic is Medicare-certified.

Dialysis is a life-sustaining process that cleans waste products from the blood and removes extra fluids when a person’s kidneys fail. Dialysis patients typically require treatment on an ongoing basis unless they receive a kidney transplant.

Other clinic services include a kidney transplant support program, vascular care, anemia management, nutrition counseling, bone disease management, and social worker support.

Hesun Han, M.D., a nephrologist (kidney specialist) with the Atlanta Nephrology Referral Center in Decatur and Lawrenceville, is providing medical director oversight at the new clinic.

“Patients at this new Fresenius Medical Care facility will enjoy the benefits of UltraCare, our name for excellent, patient-centered care and customer service,” said Robin Jones R.N., clinical manager for Fresenius Medical Care Berkeley Lake, in the press release. “Dialysis patients spend many hours receiving treatment each week, so we are pleased to offer this high level of care and comfort, now in a more convenient location for people in the Duluth area.”

Dialysis stations at Fresneius Medical Care Berkeley Lake feature the CHAIRSIDE® online charting and electronic health record system with touch-screen monitors that allow clinical staff to enter and securely track critical patient information.

Patients who bring their own computers or Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones to the clinic have access to wireless Internet.
