Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

  1. Studies and strategies are nearing completion over the next few months and shaping what the community hopes for the Gwinnett Place Mall redevelopment. Last weekend, a block party was held to present to Duluth residents some of the early ideas developed from public feedback for the Reclaim Gwinnett Place equity study. Both the equity study and the revitalization strategy are expected to be finished within the next few months, with the goal of having everything finished by the end of the summer. Meanwhile, the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District will hold an open house and design workshop on Wednesday at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Duluth. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  2. This Thursday in Gas South District, Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate, a four-day event ending on Sunday, Apr. 24. This monumental ice-skating spectacular will feature the legacy of Disney displayed through 14 classic and modern stories. Attendees should expect to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, the Disney Princesses, and more. (Duluth Patch)
  3. The state has opened an investigation into Creekstone Daycare Academy after a Duluth mother accused the employees of ripping the braids out of her two-year-old’s scalp on Mar. 28. Kailyn Brown says she was shocked and angered after picking her daughter up from daycare and noticing a bald patch in the back. The daycare officials deny all allegations and allege another student was responsible for ripping the toddler’s beads out. According to the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, the investigation of filed complaints takes up to 30 days. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
