Hit-And-Run Suspect Cooperating With Police
Gwinnett County Police have located the hit-and-run suspect they were searching for and are still investigating the case, they said.

DULUTH, GA — The woman suspected in a fatal hit and run collision Tuesday night has met with authorities and the case is still under investigation, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. The deceased in this case has been identified as Melissa Wheeler, 50, of Decatur.
Prior to any warrants being obtained, Anita Mustafi, 27, of Lawrenceville, made contact with the lead investigator in the case and has told her side of the story. Mustafi met with the lead investigator, accompanied by her attorney, and brought forth information that requires further investigation. Mustafi is cooperating with the lead investigator and the investigation is continuing, police said.
A decision on criminal charges will be made at the completion of the investigation, police said.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Gwinnett Police responded to a person hit by a vehicle call at 2001 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth. Upon arrival officers located Wheeler lying in the parking lot. She was transported by fire department personnel to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries. She later died as a result of those injuries.
