- On Thursday, Duluth-based company Asbury Automotive Group Inc. beat Wall Street expectations when reporting its first-quarter net income of $237.7 million. The auto dealership chain said it had a profit of $10.38 per share which shoots higher than the estimated earnings of $8.92 per share. The shares have dropped slightly more than 8 percent since the beginning of the year and 23 percent over the past 12 months. (AP News)
- This Monday, May 2 through Sunday, May 8, Mitsubishi Electric Classic returns to Duluth’s TPC Sugarloaf! The course will be filled with more than 70 golf pros and eager fans waiting to see some top-level competition. In addition to special events and experiences to keep fans busy, organizers say raising money for local organizations is a top priority. - The Southeastern Festivals and Events Association virtually took place on Apr. 26 and recognized the City of Duluth as one of the best in the region for its events and creative efforts over the last year. Events Coordinator Jessica Gross and Senior Marketing Coordinator accepted the awards. Check out the numerous awards the City of Duluth collected — including the Best Children's Programming in recognition of the Back To School Bubble Palooza, as well as the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Award in recognition of the Pride Pop-Up.
