Here are the top three stories today in Duluth:

  1. The Gwinnett County Public Schools board voted to hire Melissa Laramie as the district's new chief communications officer. Laramie previously served as the executive director of communications and public affairs of the Kent School District in Washington State. She will be replacing Sloan Roach, who is set to retire from her post at the end of this week. (Subscription: Gwinnettdailypost.com)

  • The City of Roswell, about 30 minutes outside of Duluth, will be hosting a free family health and wellness expo on May 14. Attendees can expect free health screenings, demonstrations, healthy treats, and samples. (CBS 46 News)
  • Car show season kicks off this weekend with the Grounded Truck Gathering, taking place at the Cumming Fairgrounds on Friday, Apr. 29. The event will benefit Bald Ridge Lodge and is sure to be well worth the 25-minute drive. (Forsyth County News Online)
  • As of Monday evening, Johns Creek police are still searching for a missing 80-year-old man. Moon Boo Kim was last seen the morning of Apr. 24 and may be in the greater Duluth area. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
