Suspect Identified In Deadly Hit And Run: Police
Gwinnett County Police are searching for an accused felony hit-and-run suspect who has now been identified.

DULUTH, GA — The woman suspected in a fatal hit and run collision Tuesday night has been identified, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department. The deceased in this case has been identified as Melissa Wheeler, 50, of Decatur. Next of kin notification has been made.
The suspect has been identified as Anita Mustafi, 27, of Lawrenceville. An officer with Lawrenceville Police Department recognized the suspect from a previous encounter. Investigators from the Accident Investigation Unit attempted to make contact with Mustafi but she was not home.
They did, however, locate the vehicle involved in the incident. The vehicle is a gray 2009 Kia Sportage. Investigators are currently obtaining a search warrant to search the vehicle and process it for evidence. Police say warrants for Mustafi's arrest will be obtained and she will be charged with felony hit and run.

Shortly before 11 p.m., Gwinnett Police responded to a person hit by a vehicle call at 2001 Pleasant Hill Road in unincorporated Duluth. Upon arrival officers located Wheeler lying in the parking lot. She was transported by fire department personnel to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries. She later died as a result of those injuries.
