Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

  1. The Gwinnett Summer Youth Police Program is taking applications for their two sessions this summer! Each session is one week long, running from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For middle schoolers and high schoolers that are interested in getting classroom and practical experience, applications are due on May 16. (Patch)
  2. The Southwest Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce made a donation to Northside Duluth Hospital. $1,100 was donated for the purpose of supplying phone charging stations in the hospital, as many visitors to the hospital don't think to grab this essential when making a rush to the hospital for a loved one. This kind of convenience will allow for easy communication between family, friends, patients, and hospital workers. (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. Duluth police are still searching for thieves who stole catalytic converters off of school buses earlier this week. Many metal-scrappers are even refusing to take in catalytic converters, as they have reason to believe they may be stolen. Catalytic converters are exhaust emission control devices that change the harmful compounds from an engine's emissions into safer gases like steam, so they're quite important for vehicles, drivers, and the environment.
