Friday: 'The Big Latch On' Breastfeeding Event Set For Grant Park In Atlanta

Moms from around metro Atlanta will converge in Grant Park on Friday, August 4 to promote the nursing of babies at "The Big Latch On."

EAST ATLANTA, GA -- Moms from around metro Atlanta will converge in Grant Park on Friday, August 4 to promote the nursing of babies. The event, called The Big Latch On, is sponsored by the organization Breastfeed Atlanta.

Fulton County government has been involved as well, providing activities and events centered around breastfeeding for WIC mothers all week in the city. August is also National Breastfeeding Month, a time of year when the public can be reminded that breastfeeding is a “high priority public health issue," according to a news release from Fulton County Board of Health.

On Tuesday, there was a breastfeeding trivia event at College Park Regional Health Center (on Thursday, it was held at the Adamsville Regional Health Center). On Wednesday, a peer-to-peer support group convened at the Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Atlanta.

On August 7, breastfeeding trivia will be held at the North Fulton Service Center Health Center in Sandy Springs.
