New Photos Released In DeKalb Shooting Death Of Woman On Birthday

DeKalb County Police are seeking assistance in identifying suspects in the deadly shooting of a woman on her 21st birthday.

EAST ATLANTA, GA β€” Police have released new photos of at least one person of interest in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman celebrating her birthday in East Atlanta.

DeKalb County Police on Tuesday said they hoped releasing the surveillance photos will help officers identify suspects in the Oct. 26 death of Kinaya Hightower at a gas station in the 3000 block of Moreland Avenue.

Hightower, an innocent bystander, was with friends at a car meet-up when police say she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two groups of people.

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

"We urge anyone who was there, has video, saw anything or can identify anyone in the pictures. Even the smallest detail could help solve this crime," police said in a news release.

Police asked anyone with information on the case to send anonymous tips to DKPD via the free Tip411 app or by text messaging "DKPD" with the tip to 847411.
