Murder Suspect Arrested In Fatal Gas Station Shooting In DeKalb
A Gwinnett County man is facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a woman on her birthday at a DeKalb gas station.
EAST ATLANTA, GA — Authorities say they have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a woman on her 21st birthday at a Moreland Avenue gas station.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday said they arrested Gregory Dennis, 22, of Norcross, Monday night at a Gwinnett County hospital in connection with the fatal shooting of Kinaya Hightower on Oct. 26, 2025. The arrest was made due to a joint effort from sheriff's offices in DeKalb and Gwinnett, along with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Hightower, an innocent bystander, was with friends at a car meet-up when DeKalb County Police say she was caught in the crossfire of a shootout between two groups of people. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
Dennis was arrested on charges of murder and aggravated assault and will be transferred from the Gwinnett County Jail to the DeKalb County Jail, authorities said.
