- The Cobb County Department of Transportation and District 3 Commissioner JoAnn K. Birrell is hosting a drop-in community open house today (Mar. 7) at Bells Ferry Elementary School at 5:30 p.m. Cobb County residents will have the chance to learn more about the Noonday Creek Trail Extension study and the project's background as well as existing conditions within the study area. They will also be able to review and provide feedback on the trail's potential options. The school is located at 2600 Bells Ferry Road NE in nearby Marietta. (Cobb County Government via Facebook)
- The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area drew a record 3.5 million visitors, which includes several area trails and facilities in East Cobb, according to the National Park Service. The number of visitors this year is nine percent higher than attendance in 2021, according to park officials. The Chattahoochee River NRA, created in 1978, stretches for 48 miles between the Forsyth, Gwinnett, Fulton, and Cobb counties. The Chattahoochee NRA staff said that “this many visitors each year mean parts of the park are always very crowded." (East Cobb News)
- A 100-foot tall tree toppled onto a home on Chimney Springs Drive on Friday, causing damages to the entire top of the house. Kyle Rowe, who is a claims specialist and is working with the homeowner, says the entire family was home at the time. The youngest son was in his room on the top floor but made it out of the room moments before the tree crashed. "It's going to be a long process for them, four to six months at least," said Rowe of rebuilding efforts. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
