Belated Fireworks Lead Weekend Events

The show will go on at the Indian Hills clubhouse on Sunday.

The weekend in the East Cobb area and beyond is a little livelier than first planned.

That's because the July 4 fireworks scheduled for the Indian Hills County Club was postponed due to the rain.

The display will take place on Sunday, after other membership events in the neighborhood. Click here for more details.

A large estate sale continues all weekend in the Atlanta Country Club area. Home furnishings and other household items will be on sale from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at 790 Burning Tree Drive.

"The Motown Sound" is playing at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre on the Marietta Square until July 14, and tickets are on sale for Saturday's show at 8 p.m. and the 3 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Jewelry, jems and related items will be on sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Frank Cox Gem and Jewelry Sale at the Cobb Civic Center, 548 South Marietta Parkway.

Civil War buffs will be gathering at the KSU Center on Saturday to hear one of the war's foremost historians in a special appearance.

The Civil War Round Table of Cobb County begins at 5 p.m. Ed Bearss, featured in the Ken Burns documentary of the Civil War, will speak on the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, which took place 149 years ago.

Admission is free to Roundtable members and is $10 for non-members. The KSU Center is located at 3333 Busbee Drive in Kennesaw.
