  1. Tensions were reportedly high at a recent Cobb County Board of Commissioners meeting that focused on the five-year plan being developed by consulting group Accenture. In August 2022, the commission approved $1.45 million dollars for the company to develop a five-year strategic plan. At the meeting, Commissioner Keli Gambrill said that county staff had already prepared five-year plans and that Accenture's recommendations for economic development were unnecessary since they overlap with the Chamber of Commerce's activities. Chairwoman Lisa Cupid was in support of Accenture's recommendations, saying that economic development was a "dominant activity of government." (Subscription: Marietta Daily Journal)
  2. The Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center is hosting a historical exhibit to celebrate its fifth anniversary. The exhibit will run Apr. 6 through May 13 and will feature historic photos of East Cobb and Marietta. The photos will be displayed in large wall collages and have been drawn from news stories, university archives, and personal collections. (East Cobb News)
  3. Down the road in Marietta, residents of a condominium complex are still dealing with a sinkhole that is continuing to grow in one of the complex's roadways. Some residents of Bently Ridge Condominiums have to walk long distances to their homes since the road has been closed. FOX 5 spoke with Dawn Hardy, the overseer for the complex's HOA, who said they have hired a construction crew and project manager and are working with the county to get the sinkhole fixed.
