COBB COUNTY, GA — Students are back in school for just a few more weeks until the extended winter holidays. And parents better pull out the calendar now and start making plans.
Cobb County School District students get a full two weeks away from classrooms, book bags and homework. Teachers will have a slightly less festive eight days to enjoy the holiday season.
According to the school district calendar for 2016-17, the winter holiday begins on Dec. 22 and runs through Monday, Jan. 2. Students get two more days off: Jan. 3-4 are designated as staff workdays.

- Dec. 22, 2016 through Jan. 2, 2017: Winter Holidays
- Jan. 3, 2017: Student Holiday, Staff Workday
- Jan. 4, 20o17: Student Holiday, Staff Workday
- Jan. 16, 2017: Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
- Feb. 20-24, 2017: Winter Break for Students and Teachers
The extended forecast for the winter holidays includes a mix of sunny days and rainy days, with temperatures starting in the upper-50s, but spending several days after Christmas in the mid-40s.
Cobb County Public Library System will be hosting several special events during the time away from class, including East Marietta Library's "Winter Break Boredom Buster" and the Switzer Library's "Holiday Break" events all week. See the complete library calendar.
