MARIETTA, GA — Dangerous conditions are expected to persist on area roadways through Monday, leading Cobb County School District to make an early decision about the schedule for Monday.

From Cobb County Schools:

After extensive consultation with the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Cobb Police Department, due to icy and unsafe roads in the northern part of the county, the Cobb County School District is cancelling school for Monday, January 9th, 2017. Teachers and staff should not report. Stay safe and see you in school on Tuesday!

The national weather service has noted that black ice is possible on roadways and walkways overnight and early Monday morning.
