Cobb Homeowner Shoots, Kills One of Two Intruders

Cobb police say a homeowner shot and killed one of two intruders who barged into his home late Tuesday night in Marietta.

According to Officer Mike Bowman, the shooting took place around 11 p.m. in a home located in the 1800 block of Dorsey Road near Canton Road.

The homeowner told investigators that he shot the first man, and watched as the second suspect left the area in a vehicle. The deceased male has been identified as 30-year-old Michael Verucci of Marietta.

At this time, investigators do not expect to file any charges in this case and ask that anyone with information about this incident call the Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
