Cobb students go back to school on Thursday. Here are some must-know dates for students, parents and teachers.

MARIETTA, GA — The first day of school in Cobb County is on Thursday, Aug. 1 — and whether you and the kids are looking forward to the new school year or are dreading the end of summer, you'll want to mark the date on your calendar ASAP. The Cobb County School District has released its 2019-20 calendar for the county's public schools.
The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.
- Aug. 1: First day of school
- Sept. 2: Labor Day
- Sept. 23-27: Fall Break
- Nov. 5: Election day, school closed
- Nov. 25-29: Thanksgiving Break
- Dec. 23-Jan. 1: Winter Break
- Jan. 2: School resumes
- Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Feb. 17-21: Winter Break
- April 6-10: Spring Break
- May 20: Last Day of School
