Cobb Sheriff's First Free Gun Safety Class Is Thursday

Thursday evening is the first of three free gun safety classes offered by Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren.

MARIETTA, GA -- Ever wanted to know how to handle a gun -- the right way? Thursday evening is the first in a series of firearms safety classes being put on by Cobb County's top cop. The classes by Cobb Sheriff Neil Warren will include an overview of the types of firearms out there, gun safety tips and how to get a Georgia Weapons License, the county said.

The class will also cover the topic of using deadly force and things to expect during an active shooter situation. The series will build in enough time for questions so if you have any queries, feel free to bring them.

The first class will be held in Acworth at tthe North Cobb Senior Center. The next one will be two months later and the final one will be in early November, the city said in a news release.

Below is the schedule for the classes.

  • 6 p.m., July 13 North Cobb Senior Center, 3900 S. Main St., Acworth
  • 6 p.m., Sept. 14 East Cobb Senior Center, 3332 Sandy Plains Road, Marietta
  • 6 p.m., Nov. 2 Senior Wellness Center, 1150 Powder Springs St., Marietta

Warren will also provide free gun safety locks at the classes, which are free to attend.
