East Cobb Pipeline Project Nearly Done: Officials

Construction work has slowed traffic in the area in recent weeks.

EAST COBB, GA -- Gridlock in one of Cobb County's most populous areas should ease a bit as a major road project work comes near an end, officials said Tuesday.

The East Cobb Pipeline is 70 percent done, the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority said.

Construction crews are focused on two locations on Lower Roswell Road, with one working at Old Canton Road and Peppertree Court. The other crew is bogged down doing trench rock excavation, the agency said.

"Due to the smaller 3-lane width of roadway along Lower Roswell Road, for safety of the crews and traveling public, traffic will be restricted to one lane in the immediate work zones from 9am-4pm daily," the agency said.

The project, which has slowed traffic in the area in recent weeks, is replacing 6.1 miles of pipe that has been in place for more than half a century.
