Former East Cobb Middle School Will Be Torn Down By December
The board of education voted unanimously to demolish the school to make room for a rebuild of Eastvalley Elementary School.
EAST COBB, GA — The former East Cobb Middle School will be torn down by the end of the year to make room for the new Eastvalley Elementary School after a unanimous Board of Education vote on Aug. 19.
Chaplin and Sons Clearing and Demolition, Inc. will demolish the building, located on Holt Road in Marietta across from Wheeler High School, for $348,000, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. The district received nine bids for the project, but board members chose Chaplin and Sons, according to the reporting.
Marc Smith, the school district's chief technology and operations officer, told East Cobb News that officials expect the project to be completed by Dec. 20.

The former East Cobb Middle School opened in 1963. It has been empty since the school moved to its current location, 825 Terrell Mill Road, Marietta, ahead of the 2018-2019 school year, 11 Alive reported.
Officials have yet to establish a timeline for the construction of the new Eastvalley Elementary School, according to East Cobb News.
