ICYMI: Cobb County Restaurant Inspections

EAST COBB, GA — Here are some restaurant and food service inspections conducted in Cobb County over the past week by the Georgia Department of Public Health.

Each item on the inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points. The total perfect score is 100. Inspectors deduct points for each violation, and more points are deducted for items that have a higher risk of causing illness, and repeat violations result in even more points deducted.

Restaurants with 90-100 points receive an A, 80-89 points receive a B, 70-79 points receive a C, and under 70 receive a U for “unsatisfactory.” Patch lists the violations for restaurants graded C or lower.

Observed employee handling money, touching the phone then proceeding to handle food without washing hands first. CA: Employee must wash hands after handling money, phone, and computer. COS: Employee washed hands

No verifiable employee health policy available. CA: Food employees and conditional employees are informed in a verifiable manner of their responsibility to report.

Observed bathroom hand sink without soap CA: Handsink must have soap

Observed no paper towels at any hand sinks in establishment. CA: Hand sinks must be provided with hand drying mechanisms. COS: Employee obtained paper towels and placed them at the sinks.

Observed employee washing hands in prep sink. CA: Employees shall wash hands in sinks designated for hand washing only. COS: Employee washed hands in hand washing sink.

Observed food in walk-in freezer stored on the floor. CA: Food shall be stored 6" off of the floor. COS: PIC moved items 6" off of the floor.

No sanitizer available for cleaning surfaces. CA: Chlorine sanitizer shall be at 50-100ppm. COS: PIC made sanitizing solution 100ppm chlorine.

Observed food items in prep cooler at temperatures above 41F. PIC was removing items for refrigeration after having items out beyond 4 hours. CA: TCS items shall be cold held at 41F and below. COS: PIC discarded items

No TPHC documents available for chicken wings sitting out at room temperature. CA: Verifiable documents for TPHC shall be available for TCS items in temperature danger zone.

Observed live roaches coming out from behind the soap dispenser after attempting to retrieve soap. (hand sink at back of kitchen). Observed roaches coming out of soap dispenser with the soap after pressing button. Facility has no record of pest control. CA: Presence of pests shall be controlled by routinely monitoring facility for pests.
