Lassiter HS Bands Preps for Percussion Symposium

From Lassiter HS: The Lassiter High School Bands Program announces its fourth Annual Percussion Symposium, to be held Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 in the Lassiter High School Concert Hall. The event will feature performances by accomplished student musicians from Cobb County and throughout the Southeast and the Northwestern University Percussion Ensemble.
“This symposium provides students and directors with an opportunity to interact with world-class musicians, while also gaining valuable training,” said Lassiter Percussion Director Mike Lynch. “We are excited to welcome the entire community to join us for two days of dynamic, entertaining music.”
Students will perform for evaluation by renowned percussionists Dr. Stephen Crawford, University of Mary-Hardin Baylor, Ted Atkatz, former Principle Percussionist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and She-e Wu, Northwestern University, fresh off a World Premiere performance with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Student performances begin Friday, from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday performances are scheduled from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The Northwestern ensemble will perform at approximately 8:00 Saturday evening. Admission is $7 for both days, with proceeds benefitting the Lassiter High School Bands Program.
The Lassiter Bands Percussion Symposium was developed to encourage the growth of percussion ensemble activity in a non-competitive environment. Attending students will perform on state-of-the-art instruments provided by Mapex/Majestic and will receive professional evaluation.
