Update: Police Stop Search in Attempted Child Kidnapping

Alleged incident happened Tuesday morning near J.J. Daniel Middle School.

Cobb police are reportedly no longer seeking a man who allegedly attempted a child abduction on Tuesday. Neighbors say the individual in question is an elderly man in his late 90s who happens to like children.

WSB TV reports that while the search is over, several people have witnessed odd behavior in the area where the incident took place.

The Cobb County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit is investigating a possible kidnapping of a child in Marietta.

The incident reportedly happened Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. on Chapman Drive near Parliament Street.

According to investigators, a female juvenile was walking near J.J. Daniel Middle School when she was approached by the suspect in his automobile. The suspect yelled out to her to get in the vehicle as he opened the passenger side door. When the female juvenile refused to get in, the vehicle drove away.

The car is described as a black Toyota Camry or Toyota Corolla bearing a Georgia handicap license plate with the numbers 120 or 21 in it.

The suspect is described as an older white male with a gray mustache. He was last seen wearing a baseball cap.
