Presentation, Hearings Planned For 2018 Budget In Cobb
The Cobb Board of Commissioners will hold a budget presentation and two public hearings about the fiscal year 2018 budget.

MARIETTA, GA -- Fresh off a millage vote, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners will hold several meetings over the next five weeks on the fiscal year 2018 budget. The three meetings -- a budget presentation and two public hearings over the next month -- are in preparation for the budget's planned adoption on Sept. 12.
Commissioners have warned that the public can expect a tax increase. (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)
Last month, the board voted to keep the county's millage rate the same, 9.85 mills. To make up for this year's budget shortfall, the panel voted to tap into $4 million of the county's contingency funds. Now, commissioners will seek to hammer out the budget for next year.
