Salmonella Tied to Bad Calif. Tuna

At least one of five Georgia cases came in Cobb County.

The tuna did it.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday that the likely culprit in a since January is tainted raw tuna from Moon Marine USA Corp. of California.

Moon Marine, also known as MMI, has voluntarily recalled 58,828 pounds of the frozen yellowfin tuna, labeled as Nakaochi Scrape AA or AAA, the Food and Drug Administration said.

Nakaochi Scrape is tuna backmeat that is scraped off the bones and looks like it has been ground up. It is used in sushi, sashimi and ceviche, among other seafood dishes. the CDC said.

The CDC has received reports of 116 people sickened with salmonella bareilly in the outbreak. Twelve of them have been hospitalized; no one has died.
