Student's 'Court Date' Forgery Lands Him in Jail: Police

The Life University student allegedly forged documents which claimed he was in jail during an exam period. He's since been in jail for real.

A Marietta man spent several hours in the Cobb County jail last week after being arrested for allegedly forging court documents that excused his absences from school.

On Oct. 23, Deonta Demon Stephens gave an instructor at Life University forged documents which claimed he had been in a Cobb County courtroom as an excuse for missing class, a warrant states.

On Nov. 3, Stephens presented the same instructor another forged document from Cobb County which claimed he’d been ordered to spend three days in jail, the warrant says. This alleged stay in jail caused Stephens to miss more classes and an exam.
