Watch Firefighters Save Elderly Woman from Burning House
Fire department officials say the woman rescued from her burning Marietta home should be released from the hospital at the end of this week.
EAST COBB, GA -- An elderly Marietta woman is recovering from burns at WellStar Cobb Hospital after Cobb County firefighters pulled her from her burning home Sunday afternoon, the fire department said Tuesday.
Firefighters were dispatched to 1739 Merry Oak Road at 4:20 p.m. and immediately spotted heavy flames coming from the back corner of the house, department spokeswoman Denell Boyd said. Family members who escaped the home advised firefighters that an 84-year-old woman was still inside.
Firefighters located the woman hiding in a bathtub, and a ladder truck was employed to rescue and remove her from the home, according to Boyd. She was carried a safe distance away from the home, where she began receiving treatment.
