Wheeler Soccer No. 32 in U.S.

The Wildcat boys move up in the ESPN poll while taking a break.

The boys soccer team is moving up in the national rankings merely by sitting on the sidelines.

The Wildcats (9-2-2) haven't played since a penalty-kick win March 23 over , then the national poll. And Wheeler won't play again until next Tuesday at home against .

But inaction hasn't hurt the appreciation of the team.

The latest Powerade Fab 50 rankings, out Tuesday, put Wheeler at No. 32, up 10 places from last week.

Six Georgia teams are rated higher: Lassiter at No. 7; , 9; , 13; , 14; Greenbrier, 15; and , 20.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution celebrated the multinational makeup of the Wildcats on Saturday, noting that the players and Coach Salomon Corella represent at least eight countries and speak five languages.

The top two scorers are sophomore Joao Silva (Brazil) and senior Martijn Edelman (the Netherlands), the AJC noted.
