Lawrenceville Man Killed In Lake Lanier Drowning
The 22-year-old man swam in deep water and did not resurface in the Gainesville area of Lake Lanier.

GAINESVILLE, GA — A 22-year-old Gwinnett County man who drowned Monday night in Lake Lanier, in the Van Pugh Park area, died at the hospital, the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
Authorities identified the man as Brayan Tarasona, of Lawrenceville. The sheriff's said emergency personnel recovered Tarasona from Lake Lanier around 6:30 p.m.

Tarasona and two other people went to swim in Van Pugh, when he swam out into the deep water and tried to return to shore, authorities said. He went underwater and did not resurface.
Hall County Fire Rescue marine crews responded to the park near Gaines Ferry Road, where they quickly found Tarasona and pulled him from the water using a remote operate vehicle, authorities said.

Tarasona was taken to a hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead around 8:30 p.m. at the hospital, authorities said. An autopsy is being performed.
