Here are the top three stories in Gainesville today:

  1. The Georgia Department of Transportation has converted a right-turn-only lane into a left and right-turn lane to ease congestion. The new lane sits on the southbound exit ramp at Exit 12 from Spout Springs Road to I-985, offering relief to motorists who were experiencing backups, especially during rush hour. The lane is part of the overall Spout Springs Road improvements, which included widening the road from two to four lanes between I-985 and Union Circle, with the second phase of the project – widening Spout Springs from Union Circle to Gwinnett County – still in the works, but without identified funding yet. (The Times)
  2. Flourish Ultrasound Studio, located in the Hunt Tower in Gainesville, offers elective 2D, 3D, 4D, and HD prenatal ultrasound technology for expectant mothers. Owner and experienced ultrasound technician Sybil Norwood provides the services, but they do not replace medical, diagnostic ultrasounds performed at a doctor's office. The studio is the first of its kind in Gainesville, and ultrasounds are not currently covered by insurance as they are elective. (The Times)
  3. Kelley Robertson, the chief assistant district attorney in the Northeastern Judicial Circuit, has been appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of B.E. Roberts III in the Hall County State Court. Robertson previously served as an assistant district attorney and as a staff attorney under Judge Kathlene Gosselin, and is active in her community, serving on the boards of the Gateway Domestic Violence Center, the Rape Response non-profit, and the Georgia Mountain Food Bank.
